Dr. Chris Harper (aka Harp) is passionate about biblical manhood, and often speaks on topics such as a man’s identity in Christ, the trouble and trials that threaten men, and the importance of being a gospel-centered husband and father. With a fiery and magnetic teaching style, Chris is sure to motivate and move his listeners. Chris and his wife, Ally, live with their four children – Scarlett, Malachi, Calvin, and Oliver – in Arlington, Texas. In addition to his family, Chris loves music, a good cheeseburger, and firmly believes Jordan is better than Lebron.
Pastor Tim is the lead pastor of Mars Hill Portland. He came to Mars Hill in the summer of 1999, having never owned an electric guitar, been in a band, or written a song. Somehow, by God’s grace, he became the worship pastor and has been able to hang on and give shape to a movement of well over 30 worship bands leading many local churches. Tim is the husband of Beth and the father of three daughters. He enjoys good food and whiskey.
Gathered worship changed Tim’s life. He has been leading God’s people in worship through song for 30 years and in local church leadership for 23. It’s been a bumpy ride and if you know much about the world of church leadership, you know that there is a lot of pain, difficulty and drama between the lines of Tim’s story. But through it all, actually because of it all, Tim loves Jesus and singing his praise more than ever.
Dr. Dominick Hernández currently serves as an Associate Professor of Old Testament and Semitics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. Dominick completed his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible at Bar-Ilan University (Ramat Gan, Israel), where he was trained in Semitic Philology. He is the author of Proverbs: Pathways to Wisdom (Abingdon), Illustrated Job in Hebrew (GlossaHouse), Engaging the Old Testament: How to Read Biblical Narrative, Poetry, and Prophecy Well (Baker, forthcoming), The Prosperity of the Wicked: A Theological Challenge in Job and Ancient Near Eastern Literature (Gorgias Press, forthcoming) and has forthcoming commentaries on Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah (Cascade), and Song of Songs (Eerdmans). Dominick teaches on an array of topics including biblical wisdom, ancient Near Eastern literature, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Each year we provide not only an awesome primary speaker but engaging and informative breakout speakers you can go to during your free time throughout the event. This year we’ll be bringing back the same format we did in 2023 with only a few speakers. This allows you and your group to visit all of them if you wish during the course of the event. We haven’t nailed down the specific speakers but you can expect them to focus primarily around the Men’s Roundup values (seen below).
Every church will eventually face the retirement of its Senior Pastor, and the readiness for this transition can significantly impact its future. Pastor Gary Brumbelow of Troutdale Community Church was aware of his impending retirement but lacked a succession plan or the financial resources for a full-time replacement. This prompted him to connect with Pleasant Home Community Church (PHCC), leading to a budding partnership aimed at revitalizing both congregations to better serve the Troutdale community. Over the past year, PHCC has already successfully planted Foundation Bible Church in Damascus with Jason Mills, and this September, they will send Associate Pastor Ryan Wethern to become the Senior Pastor at Troutdale Community Church. This transition will involve several key changes: Troutdale will sell its smaller property to purchase a larger building nearby, PHCC will send several families to support the mission in Troutdale, and they will provide financial backing for Ryan’s role over the next three years. Excitement is building as they prepare for the official launch of this revitalized church on September 1, 2025, marking a new season of gospel ministry.
