Most men come to their struggle with pornography loaded with shame about what they’re doing. But what if the more important question is why? Every unwanted behavior is a misdirected search for something real, connection, comfort, validation, escape, or intimacy. These aren’t sinful desires. They’re God-given longings that got lost on the way home.
In this session, we’ll go beneath the surface of pornography use to identify the legitimate desires underneath, and explore what it looks like to bring those desires to God and community instead. Because real freedom doesn’t start with trying harder. It starts with understanding what you’re actually hungry for.

Josiah grew up in Fort Worth, TX where sports were his passion! At a young age he began to chase everything under the sun thinking he would find life in sports, relationships, alcohol and pornography. Jesus arrested his heart during his junior year in college, while still chasing baseball and the world looking for fulfillment. He saw that the things he was chasing were only bringing more death. He was finally broken over his sin and Jesus saved and restored him. He can’t stop sharing where life is found!

Israel is the pastor of Baker Creek Community Church in McMinnville, Oregon, where he has served as pastor for over 30 years. Additionally, he has served as a Spanish teacher at McMinnville Christian Academy and as a medical interpreter for over ten years. He has been married to Ruth for over 25 years and has three daughters. He enjoys running, playing basketball, exercising, and walking.
